IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please understand that in the provision of exam-only booking we are providing a service which you may be able to source on your own initiative. Physical exam centres may accept your booking directly at a lower cost to you than you would pay for our service. The price of our exam booking service takes account of the cost of provision of this service including third party fees.

18th Edition exam – we can only book an 18th Edition exam if you have studied with ourselves at Electacourse or with either the IET or NICEIC. We cannot put a candidate forward for the exam unless you have evidence that you are ready for the exam (ie high marks in exam practice material)

Part P exam – we can only accept candidates for the Part P exam if you have studied with ourselves at Electacourse

About the City & Guilds remote exam

We strongly recommend you do not book your City & Guilds exam until you have assured yourself you are ready for the exam. A measure of exam readiness is you having recently achieved marks in excess of 80% on three separate occasions in the Electacourse exam practice products.

Do not book this product unless you can meet the technical requirements for @home examinations. They are:

  1. a well-lit room where the exam can be taken undisturbed
  2. a good internet connection
  3. a laptop or desktop computer (PC only) with a face webcam
  4. permissions authority to install a small exam-view application onto the PC
  5. a telephone number and email address so the exam set-up details can be organised and confirmed

Once the exam has been scheduled, you will be contacted and given information how to prepare yourself and the PC before the exam.

Take note: we are sorry but for the moment we are not able to offer the exam@home to international students. We expect City & Guilds to allow this soon.

What else do you need?

For the 18th Edition exam you must take into the exam room with you a copy of  IET Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018 A2:2022 (Brown Book).

For the Part P exam you can take in either or both of the following books:

  • The Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations
  • NICEIC – Electrical Installers’ Guide to the Building Regulations: v. 1: For Dwellings and Associated Areas in England and Wales.

Remember, do not make any pencil marks or notes in the Wiring Regulations. If you have marked the book you will not be allowed to take the book into the exam. You can put Post-It notes in the book. Remember to take a calculator with you into the exam – you cannot use your phone as a calculator.

After you have done the exam

If you have passed the exam you will receive your City & Guilds certificate directly from our exam partners, normally within three weeks of your exam.
