Inspection and Testing can be a very difficult subject to absorb, as the high failure rate of past exam candidates illustrates. However, if the subject is presented in an easy to follow format, with clear diagrams and illustrations, it becomes much easier.

There are no formal entry requirements to sit the 2394 or 2395 course, however candidates should have a basic understanding of electrical science and principles and preferably some experience of electrical installation work. Our Inspection and Testing course and revision aid is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and confidence to sit a relevant qualification such as the City & Guilds 2394 Level 3 award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations and/or 2395 Level 3 award in the Periodic Inspection, testing and Certification of Electrical Installations. It is designed as a complete course and study aid for the student, who will have to complete a written examination and practical test at an approved examination centre to achieve their certificate and may also be beneficial to candidates already studying for one of the above qualifications at a training centre or college.

The course is designed to help participants appreciate the dangers associated with electrical testing and recognise the precautions necessary for the protection of personnel and equipment whilst also understanding both the statutory and non-statutory requirements for testing of installations.

The Inspection and Testing course illustrates how to perform appropriate electrical tests including continuity of protective conductors, continuity of ring final circuit conductors, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance and RCD and functional testing.

The course also illustrates how to determine appropriate test pass levels and interpret results correctly and how to correctly complete the relevant documentation (the IET Electrical Installation Condition Report and Schedule of Inspections and Schedule of Test Results).

The course can be conveniently studied at home and at your own pace. There are no time restraints whatsoever. Successful completion of the relevant inspection and testing exams can lead to the recognised and accredited award of the City and Guilds 2394 or City and Guilds 2395 Qualifications.
